Blurb

Love isn’t blind; it’s just nearsighted. Emma Finn has had enough of life-altering changes. Stability is all she wants right now, no matter how boring.
Ophthalmologist Asher Stockdale wants her to dust off her old dream of globe-trotting photographer, no matter the cost to his new dream of home, family and small town life.
Carpenter ants, cream pies, and a pair of scheming seniors help Emma and Asher to see what really lies before their eyes.

Author Info

Joan Leacott is skilled in many arts—sewing, knitting crochet, cross-stitch, painting, and piano. The skill favoured by her husband and son is cooking, especially pumpkin pie. She spends her winters in Toronto, Canada attending piano classes, melting in the hot yoga studio, and writing. Her summers are spent on the shores of Georgian Bay relaxing on the deck with a romance novel and a glass of wine. After she's done her laps in the bay, she settles down to write more multi-generational stories of people living and loving in today’s world. See you on the streets of Clarence Bay!

Excerpt 2, 313 words, Asher

Asher gave the menu a quick read. “Medium steak, side of onion rings and a Brio, please.” He had patients scheduled this afternoon at his office on McMurray Street, so no alcohol for lunch.
“Comin’ up.” Rocco removed a used glass and wiped the bar. He bellowed their order through to the kitchen on his way to deal with patrons at the cash register.

George faced the room again, talking and watching at the same time. “How did that paint finish work out in your dining room?”

Asher turned sideways to do some Emma, er, people watching of his own. “Really nice.”
“Shoulda done. That top quality stuff goes on real smooth with good color density, excellent longevity...”

Rocco served their drinks, interrupting George’s post-sale pitch. Good to know a businessman who believed in the products he sold.
“Emma liked it yesterday?”

Asher hesitated over his reply to George then wondered why he bothered trying to hide anything from anyone in this town. “She did. Said it went with all the other stuff.”

Emma laughed over something with her friends, appearing totally involved with them. But she kept peeking at him. She knew he was there.

Asher crunched into an onion ring and swore he’d gone to heaven.
“So now that you got your house all fixed up, you need to fill it with some family. Maybe a dog, too.” George kept talking while eating.

A dog. Not a bad idea. He’d had one when he was young and loved her with all the passion a kid could muster. Dog, kids, family, home. That’s what he wanted. Without thought, Asher’s gaze went to Emma. Her head was tipped back, going for the last sip of beer. His pulse rate went into high gear at the image of her arched in climax beneath him. Making an adorable child that looked just like her mommy.
