Venice in Moonlight review

After the unexpected death of Marietta Gatti's unfaithful and abusive husband,
her ruthless mother-in-law kicks her out.  She returns to Venice to reunite with her father. But upon arrival she discovers he has been murdered.  Determined to find the killer she embarks on a dangerous mission into Venice's seediest taverns during carnival.  She eventually also discovers her heart is not completely jaded when she meets Nico Foscari. Torn between her mind and her heart there is more than one mystery to unravel.

After the first paragraph I was hooked. The lavish setting in Venice during carnival is alluring and captivating. Marietta is a head strong woman and a virtuous character that instantly won my admiration. Nico is irresistible.  He entices with every encounter and becomes the love and hero for both Marietta and the reader. An intriguing mystery develops that brings the story to another level.  Absolutely loved this book! It's a historical, a mystery and a romance that peaks over and over again with every chapter.
