Interview with Michael Hendrickson

A Special Feature today on Literary Chanteuse.

An interview with fitness & cover model Michael Hendrickson. You may have seen him recently on the cover of Niki Becker's newest book Special Assignment,  as well as on my previous posts about the RNC Romance Novel Convention 2013, Michael was one of the Casanova suitors. I was lucky to have him take out some time out to answer a few questions for me.

Get to know Michael Hendrickson

Born and raised in San Francisco Michael has always enjoyed playing sports but after a car wreck that nearly ended his life and a long ardous road to recovery, he began to educate himself on the benefits of a healthy diet combined with a solid weight training program. With his second chance at life he is inspired to help others to incorporate a healthy life style for themselves.

1. You are currently on the Niki Becker's new book Special Assignment, how did that come about?

I was fortunate enough to meet Niki Becker earlier this year in Las Vegas during the RNC Romance Novel Convention hosted by Jimmy Thomas. After Niki expressed to me that she was looking for a new cover image for her upcoming novel, she and I went through my portfolio until she found the picture she wanted. The image chosen was taken by Kurt T. Jones, a talented photographer I had recently collaborated with in Los Angeles.

2. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so being into fitness and nutrition, what would be a typical breakfast for you?

I usually have a pretty ample breakfast to start off my day. I like to make stove top stir fry's, combining healthy ingredients such as olive oil, organic poultry, eggs, brown rice, diced mushrooms, numerous spices, and anything else I can think to throw in. With the right seasonings these ingredients really come to life. I also enjoy a few cups of coffee each morning, usually mixed with almond milk.

3. If you could travel to any place in the world today, where would you go?

To travel is to live! There's countless places on this planet that are worth visiting. Some of my favorite travels however have definitely involved more the journey than the destination, such as driving cross-country from San Francisco to New York City, and a few years later from San Francisco all the way to Anchorage, Alaska. As we currently approach the holiday season I will be heading back home to see my friends and family, and that's exactly where I'll want to be.

4. What book would you recommend to a reader?

How about a coloring book? It's great to feel young.

5. What is your favorite movie?

Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, and Pulp Fiction are some of my all-time favorites.

6. What would a romantic evening consist of for you and a date?

If it's our first date, let's keep is casual. The important part about tonight is being able to speak comfortably while getting to know each other. I like walking around discovering local eclectic neighborhoods with good nightlife. After being touristy we could find somewhere that looks good to eat, hopefully with great desserts.

7. When you take some time for yourself from a busy schedule, what are some of the things you like to do?

I really enjoy photography, I've been taking pictures for years and it's always exciting to see how the image will turn out. I try and stay physically active year round, usually weight training three or four times a week. However if I feel like I need a break from the gym, taking a long bike ride does the trick

8. Who would you say has inspired you the most in your life?

Inspiration can be gathered from many people and places, so I look for it everywhere I can. I'm inspired by the things I've seen, and the potential for the things that could be. My parents have always been an inspiration, as well as the friends I've made along the way.
